Electronic passport issuance process

Dear applicants!

In order to apply for a new passport, the applicant must first enter the Mikhak site i.e. https://mikhak.mfa.gov.ir and register, fill application for new passport and upload the related documents. After receiving the tracking code receipt (which is a 12 characters code) from the site, the applicant should visit the consulate general with original documents.

If for any reason the applicant is not able to register the application, he/she can contact the consular section of the Consulate General and pay 2100 INR to receive the tracking code.

Necessary documents for passport renewal

1- Completed passport application form in the mikhak site and receiving the tracking code

2- The original shenasnameh (the birth certificate of people over 15 years old must have a photo.)

3- The original national ID card (if you have a national card)

4- Original Iranian passport

5- Completion/exemption card for military service (for men)

6- A latest colour photo (taken in the last week) 4 x 6 full face with white background, without glasses, hat and Islamic hijab for women

7- Payment receipt

•     10, 500 for people above 2 years of age
•     5250 for persons less than 2 years of age

Related description:

- It is possible to send documents by post. But prior to sending, one should call the consular section of the Consulate General and coordinate for the same.

- It is mandatory to send the original shenasnameh. If the original is in Iran, it can also be verified through to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran or the provincial offices of the Ministry.

- Men over 50 years of age need not present completion/exemption card for military service.

- The special exit stamp of eligible persons is given to men born after 1354 (1975), who are 18 years old and older, who do not have an end of service or exemption card, and who have resided abroad for at least three years.

- To request a passport for people under 18 years old, considering the necessity of registration in the mikhak system, please note that the father or legal guardian of the minor (under 18 years old) is registered in the system with the national code and after entering the system, the option " "Passport request for my child" should be selected and the child's information should be entered and completed.
