Marriage of an Iranian woman with a foreign man
Marriage registration process:
In order to apply for a marriage registration, the applicant must first visit the Mikhak site i.e. https://mikhak.mfa.gov.ir and register and then fill the application online form for marriage registration and upload the related documents. After receiving the tracking code receipt (which is a 12 characters code) from the site, the applicant should visit the Consulate General with original documents.
- Applicants for marriage registration apply for marriage registration should refer to the consulate general in person
- The original certificate of celibacy (if the shenasnameh of the female is duplicate).
Required documents:
- Completing the application for the issuance marriage certificate
- Completing the application online in the mikhak site
- The original shenasnameh of the female
- The original Iranian passport of a woman with a valid residence.
- Original passport of the man
- Official notarized permission of the father or paternal grandfather of the woman
Note: In case of death of the father or paternal ancestor, it is mandatory to submit a death certificate.
- In case the applicant is divorcee, the original of the divorce certificate must be provided.
- The original certificate of conversion of a man to Islam (tasharof be Islam) from one of the Islamic centres and mosques in India (if the woman is Muslim and the man is non-Muslim)
- The original Sharia marriage certificate from Islamic centres and mosques in India (it is mandatory for Zoroastrians and Christians to present a marriage certificate based on the usual procedure in the aforementioned religions)
- Official Indian marriage certificate (issued by authorised Indian institution, like municipality).
- Birth Certificate of male
- The original health certificate and the result of the couple's medical tests, including blood group, absence of sexually transmitted disease, Thalassemia, absence of drug addiction, and a certificate from one of the reputed hospitals or medical centres in India.
Note: If more than one year has passed since the marriage of the couple or the couple have children, it is not mandatory to submit this certificate.
- Men's employment certificate in case of a woman's request
- The police clearance certificate of man issued and stamped by the Indian police (if requested by the woman)
- The man's official commitment to pay alimony (conventional cost of living for the woman) and the cost of the woman's return ticket to Iran. This letter of commitment must be approved in one of the Indian notary public offices; (if requested by the woman)
- Four new 4 x 3 full-face photos, non-immediate, non-electric, without hats and glasses, with a white background of each couple, photos of women with Islamic hijab.
