Constructive Dialogue Between Iranian Consulate General and Indian Coast Guard
In a spirit of mutual respect and shared commitment to regional stability the Head of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Mumbai held a productive meeting with Rear Admiral Bhisham Sharma Commander of the Indian Coast Guards Western Region on 11 November 2025.
The session was hosted at the Indian Coast Guard's regional headquarters in Mumbai. The discussions underscored the deepening bilateral ties between Iran and India, with a primary focus on bolstering cooperation in maritime safety, search and rescue (SAR) operations, and combating maritime threats such as smuggling, piracy, and narcotics trafficking.
The meeting commenced with expressions of gratitude for the Indian Coast Guard's exemplary role in a recent medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) operation for an injured Iranian seafarer near the Yemen borders. This swift and professional response, adhering to international conventions like SOLAS and SAR, exemplified the humanitarian ethos that binds the two nations.
This engagement reaffirms the enduring friendship between Iran and India, rooted in millennia of civilizational exchange. The Consulate General remains committed to fostering such platforms for dialogue, paving the way for a safer and more prosperous Indian Ocean region.
