Signing of the Condolence Book in Memory of the Martyrs of the Islamic Republic of Iran – Mumbai
In the wake of the martyrdom of senior military officials nuclear scientists and innocent civilians of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a result of the recent aggression by the Zionist regime a Book of Condolence was opened at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai on 30 June and 1 July 2025.
The event witnessed the presence of a wide spectrum of dignitaries, including prominent political, diplomatic, religious, cultural, academic, and economic figures from various sectors of Indian society. Attendees expressed their deep sympathy and solidarity with the Iranian people and condemned the inhumane and unlawful actions of the occupying regime. The participation of representatives from both official and non-governmental institutions reflected the deep-rooted human and cultural ties between Iran and the region, and signaled a broad international consensus in support of justice and resistance against oppression. Among the diplomatic and consular dignitaries who signed the Book of Condolence were the Consuls General of Thailand, Iraq, Belarus, Oman, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and South Africa; the Honorary Consuls of Uzbekistan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan; the Acting Consul General of Sri Lanka; and senior representatives from the missions of Indonesia and Russia. In the political and party domain, notable personalities included Sanjay Raut (Member of Rajya Sabha), Subhash Lande (Representative of the Communist Party of India), and Sudheendra Kulkarni (Senior Advisor to the former Prime Minister of India). From the economic and business sectors, the event was attended by Vijay Kalantri (President of the World Trade Center Mumbai), Sangeeta Jain (Senior Director of AIAI), and Iqbal Munir Khan (Senior Director, RBL Bank). Religious and interfaith representatives included Syed Safi Haidar (General Secretary of Tanzimul Makatib, Lucknow), Syed Najib al-Hasan (Imam of the Iranian Mosque), Darius Nematollahi (the Zoroastrian Youth Association), Syed Farman Ali (Tharallah Foundation), and members of the Khoja Shia community—Ali Abbas, Mehdi Hemani, and Sadiq Hemani. From civil society and cultural associations, attendees included Fareed Ahmed Khan (President, Urdu Caravan), Zubair Azmi (Director, Urdu Markaz), Feroze Mehtiboorwala (Secretary, India-Iran Friendship Society), Qaiser Raza Hussaini (Editor-in-Chief of Sadaqat newspaper), as well as representatives of the Al-Shaya and Muzzammil travel agencies. From the academic field, Dr. Kashyap Pathak (specialist in Eurasian studies) participated, and from student bodies, Aamir Qazi (President of the All India Students’ Federation) also signed the Book of Condolence. The Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai extends its sincere appreciation to all those who attended and reaffirmed their solidarity. The Consulate remains committed to strengthening the cultural, human, and diplomatic bonds between the people of Iran and India.
