Call for Eurasia Expo 2023

The inaugural ceremony will be attended by the Vice President of Iran, the Minister of Oil, the Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade (Chairman of the Joint Commission of Iran and Russia), the Minister of Social Work and Welfare, the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, members of the Iranian parliament, and heads of Chambers of Commerce from Eurasian member countries.

Background:

The trade between member nations of the Eurasian Economic Union, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Persian Gulf countries demonstrates significant potential.

Negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union were initiated in 2015 with the objective of expanding economic relations with the Eurasian Economic Union subsequent to the signing of a temporary agreement on the establishment of a free trade zone between the two entities. This agreement was officially implemented on October 27, 2019. Following the successful implementation of this accord, which currently operates as a preferential trade agreement encompassing a select number of commodities, negotiations have been underway to elevate it to the status of a full-fledged free trade agreement.

Within the framework of this free trade agreement, the customs tariffs on roughly 87% of the items related to Iran’s exports in the Eurasian market will be eliminated, thereby fostering a conducive environment for the advancement of bilateral relations.

Following the endorsement and execution of the free trade agreement, it is anticipated that investments and collaborative ventures, along with the establishment of appropriate trade infrastructure, will contribute to a projected increase of approximately $30 billion in trade between the parties involved.

Undoubtedly, organizing diverse international events and exhibitions presents an invaluable opportunity for the private sector to familiarize themselves with each other’s potential capabilities. Moreover, organizing conferences and B2B negotiations in conjunction with these exhibitions can greatly aid in recognizing obstacles and overcoming challenges to foster economic relations. These meetings possess the capacity to influence governmental decision-making and shape the overarching policies of nations.

The second Eurasian exhibition is scheduled to take place in Tehran from December 4th to 7th, 2023. Its primary objective is to enhance economic relations among the member nations of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Persian Gulf countries.

Participants: businessmen, producers, entrepreneurs, and high-ranking executives representing member countries such as Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as countries affiliated with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization including China, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Singapore, Vietnam, Turkey, and countries of the Persian Gulf such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, and Iran.

Date and Place: Tehran, December 4 to 7, 2023
