Legal Aspects and Ground Realities of the Recent Zionist Regimes Crimes Against Iranian Civilians

In light of the blatant and unlawful acts of aggression perpetrated by the Zionist regime against the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran it is imperative that the international public opinion human rights organizations and global institutions are duly informed of both the legal dimensions and on-the-ground realities of these heinous crimes.

According to the fundamental principles of international law, particularly as enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, the use of force is permitted solely in cases of legitimate self-defense or with the explicit authorization of the UN Security Council. Targeting civilians, residential areas, and critical infrastructure constitutes a war crime and entails international criminal responsibility for its perpetrators. In this regard, terms such as "targeted assassination," frequently employed in the Zionist regime’s doctrine, have no legal basis in international law and merely serve as an attempt to justify egregious violations.

In its recent attacks, the Zionist regime has not only struck military facilities but has also deliberately targeted residential neighborhoods, civilian sites, and vital infrastructure such as Tehran’s main water transmission line, gas refineries, fuel storage facilities, and Mashhad Airport. These aggressions have resulted in the martyrdom of dozens of civilians, including women and children.

Among the victims were five senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and nine Iranian nuclear scientists, all assassinated in their homes. Simultaneously, dozens of innocent civilians residing in these residential complexes lost their lives. The regime’s direct assaults on student dormitories and Hakim Children's Hospital in Tehran stand as glaring examples of war crimes committed in this aggression.

In response to these flagrant acts of aggression, the Islamic Republic of Iran, in exercise of its legitimate right to self-defense, launched “Operation True Promise 3,” striking dozens of the Zionist regime’s military and intelligence sites deep within the occupied territories. Despite the regime’s reliance on advanced Western defense systems, the operation proved successful, inflicting substantial damage on enemy infrastructure. According to informed sources, at least three Zionist fighter jets were downed and two pilots captured by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran during the operation.

Nonetheless, faced with repeated defeats on the battlefield, the Zionist regime has once again resorted to its longstanding policy of targeting civilians and critical non-military infrastructure. Its reprehensible actions included the bombing of a horse stable in Kermanshah Province, resulting in the death of over 50 horses, kamikaze drone attacks and car bombings in residential areas of Tehran, and the shocking targeting of Hakim Children's Hospital. A previous assault on the Jamaran residential complex led to the martyrdom of 60 civilians, including 20 children.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, while firmly committed to the principles and norms of international law, calls upon all international organizations, sovereign states, and conscientious global citizens not to remain silent in the face of these evident crimes and to hold the Zionist regime accountable for its inhumane and criminal acts.
