Islamic Republic of Iran Submits Formal Letter on E3 Violations of the JCPOA
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has submitted an official communication outlining Iran’s legal and political grievances regarding the continued non-compliance of France Germany and the United Kingdom (the E3) with their obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231.
The letter challenges the E3’s invocation of the JCPOA’s Dispute Resolution Mechanism (DRM), asserting that their non-performance and failure to uphold sanctions relief obligations—particularly in the aftermath of the U.S. withdrawal—nullify their legal standing to trigger the DRM.
The document recounts Iran’s own initiation and exhaustion of the DRM process in good faith, its continued engagement at the highest diplomatic levels, and the detailed communications it provided regarding E3 alignment with U.S. sanctions policy. Furthermore, the letter highlights the E3’s complicity in unlawful aggression against Iran, including military support for Israel and statements that contradict the spirit and substance of the JCPOA.
The Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms its commitment to diplomacy while firmly demanding an end to unlawful measures, accountability for losses sustained, and credible assurances against future violations.
