46th Anniversary of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution
On the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran hosted a grand official ceremony at Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai attended by dignitaries from the state of Maharashtra diplomats heads of chambers of commerce university presidents media professionals business leaders industrialists tourism office managers as well as prominent Iranian and Indian figures and the families of Iranian institutions and organizations.
The ceremony, which commenced with the national anthems of both countries, saw Mr. Mohseni Fard, Acting Consul General, warmly welcome the esteemed government and diplomatic guests, along with distinguished Iranians and Indians from various sectors. He emphasized that the roots of the Islamic Revolution lie in the principles of justice, dignity, and independence, which have driven Iran’s remarkable advancements in healthcare, education, science, and technology. He also underscored the vital role of women, who now occupy key leadership positions and make up more than half of the country’s academic community. Iran's prominent achievements in fields such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, aerospace, defense industries, and shipbuilding were highlighted.
In foreign policy, Mr. Mohseni Fard reaffirmed that inclusivity and human rights are the guiding principles for Iran. Despite facing illegal sanctions, Iran continues to play a significant role on both international and regional fronts. He also emphasized Iran’s commitment to ensuring permanent seats for minorities in the legislative arena and highlighted the appointment of minorities to key governance positions. The Consul General concluded by reaffirming Iran’s strong determination to deepen ties with India, particularly with the Maharashtrian and Gujarati communities, whose historical connections with Iran date back centuries.
The ceremony continued with Ms. Manisha Mayskar, the official representative of the Maharashtra government and head of protocol at the Ministry of External Affairs, who celebrated the historical and cultural connections between the Indus Valley Civilization and Iran. She pointed out shared archaeological findings and the historical trade ties that have flourished through the ages. Since the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1950, significant milestones have been achieved, including the Tehran Declaration (2001), the New Delhi Declaration (2002), and visits from Indian Prime Ministers, including Modi in 2016, all aimed at strengthening trade, transportation, and transit. India has consistently supported Iran’s membership in BRICS. Currently, the bilateral trade volume stands at $2.3 billion, and India is projected to become the third-largest economy in the world.
Ms. Mayskar also shared her personal fondness for Iranian cuisine and her travels to Iran, quoting a verse from the Maha Upanishad: "One world, one family."
During the reception, engaging video clips showcasing Iran’s economic potential, investment opportunities, tourism, and achievements were played. As the Acting Consul General delivered his speech, impactful visuals were displayed. The event concluded with the cutting of the Islamic Revolution cake, the presentation of gifts to special guests, and a musical performance by the Hegmataneh Music Group, who played a selection of traditional, majestic, and revolutionary tunes. Throughout the evening, stunning images of Iran and its many capabilities were projected, garnering much praise from the distinguished guests.
