Gold Imports to India for Travelers
✅ Duty-Free Allowance:
Men: Up to 20 grams of gold with a maximum value of ₹50000.
Women: Up to 40 grams of gold with a maximum value of ₹100000.
These quantities must be in the form of personal jewelry and must be declared at customs upon arrival.
💰 Importing More than the Above Limits:
- Travelers who have resided outside India for more than 6 months may bring up to 1 kilogram of gold, subject to payment of customs duty.
- Customs duty rate has been reduced from 15% to 6%.
⚠️ Important Notes:
- Failure to declare gold or carrying amounts above the allowed limit without declaration can result in confiscation, heavy fines, and even legal action.
- It is mandatory to prove the legal source of the gold and provide a purchase invoice.
